Year in review

Did you enjoy this year?

I did indeed.

What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?

Painted a bedroom. Drove in the US.

Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I can't find where I wrote down my resolutions for last year, but I know I definitely kept one. (Not to get arrested streaking at the footy. I've had that one every year since about 2000)

Did anyone close to you give birth?

Two friends gave birth. They both had boys.

Did anyone close to you die?

My Uncle died from Pancreatic cancer. Doctors gave him 5 years, and he managed 6.

What countries did you visit?

New Zealand and The United States.

What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?

More social activities.

What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

November 24th. My first Thanksgiving, and the ultimate highlight of my year.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I painted the spare bedroom all by myself. I was very chuffed with myself.

What was your biggest failure?

Not exactly a failure; I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted to. But I still lost, which was good.

Did you suffer illness or injury?

I had seasonal asthma that was so bad the doctor had me tested for Whooping Cough.

Did you have to go to the hospital?

What was the best thing you bought?

Plane tickets.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Prince William marrying Catherine warrented celebrating.

Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

There's a guy at work who just annoys me beyond belief. He is a haemorrhoid on life and a dickhead.

Where did most of your money go?

On my Thanksgiving Tour.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Walmart. :g: And Thanksgiving. And going to see War Horse with a friend.

What song will always remind you of 2011?

There are two songs -
Someone Like You by Adele. &

Silent All These Years by Tori Amos.

Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. Happier or sadder?

ii. richer or poorer?

Poorer. I took a 10 grand pay cut for my new job. Still am having a bit of trouble getting used to the drop. But, I am happier in my job, which is much better.

What do you wish you'd done more of?

Hung out with friends.

What do you wish you'd done less of?

Stress about things I can't change.

How did you spend Christmas?

With my parents and great Aunt.

Where did you ring in 2011?

First went out for Chinese and then hit the pub with friends.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

The above mentioned haemorrhoid. I wouldn't say hate; he annoys me is every conceivable way.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Only one? I'm having THREE

Seeker Lover keeper. A fantastic female trio.

Adele. What a voice.

2Cellos. Good looking men playing great music on Cellos.

What did you want and get?

My overseas holiday.

What did you want and not get?

A new computer.

Were you in school (any time this year)?

Nope. I did look into doing a course, and I'm starting it this year.

What did you do on your birthday?

Made myself some cupcakes to take to work, and my friends and I went out for dinner that night.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Comfortable air travel.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?

Smart casual.

What kept you sane?

My iPod. If my boss ever tells me I can't use it at work, there may very well be bloodshed.

What political issue stirred you the most?

The Carbon tax. The bloody, stupid, will not solve anything, Carbon tax.

Who was the best new person you met?

Deb. She's lovely.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:

Make sure to ALWAYS double check what time your flight leave.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

May I present the first verse and chorus of Seeker Lover keeper's "Even Though I"m A Woman"

Oh oh I
I’ve got a secret
I think I’m in love with missing you
More than I’m in love with you
That’s why I go away all the time
That’s why I travel the world and roam free
This time you’re leaving me
Oh this is how I feel

I feel like a travelling salesman
Even though I am a woman
Picking up my bags from the station
Standing there face to face
I’d be lying if I did not say
I love you more when I’m missing you
It’s why I am always away
Believe me it’s true
